What Is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy?

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy, sometimes called HBO therapy, is a treatment that can help certain wounds heal.

During treatment, you rest inside a pressurized chamber and breathe 100% oxygen. The extra oxygen carried through your blood can help damaged tissue heal and can also help the body fight certain infections.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is not needed for every wound. Your wound care team will determine whether it may be right for you.
