Gain first-hand experience in health care through Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital's Care Navigator Scholar program, a learning opportunity offered in partnership with COPE Health Solutions.
The program offers individuals the opportunity to learn about healthcare within the day-to-day context of a busy community hospital. As a Care Navigator Scholar, you will assist MLKCH care management teams with connecting patients to community-based resources and directing patients to appropriate care options. Under the mentorship of care coordinators, you will support interventions targeted towards special populations including homeless individuals and those diagnosed with chronic conditions.
Participants in the Care Navigator Scholar program must meet the following requirements
- Be at least 18 years old
- Accepted to, enrolled in, or graduated from an accredited college or university
- Complete an online application and in-person interview
- Attend 3-day training
- Attend at least one four-hour shift per week for nine months (option to complete in 6-months is available with increased shift expectations)
