RN New Graduates Residency Program

MLK Community Healthcare's Nurse Residency Program is proudly accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Practice Transition Accreditation Program® (PTAP). This prestigious accreditation recognizes healthcare organizations that provide structured, evidence-based programs designed to support the successful transition of new graduate nurses into professional practice.  

Our comprehensive, one-year Nurse Residency Program combines hands-on clinical experience, mentorship, education, simulation, and professional development opportunities to help new graduate nurses build confidence, strengthen clinical judgment, and develop the skills needed to deliver exceptional patient-centered care.

Through a supportive learning environment and dedicated guidance from experienced nurse leaders, educators, and preceptors, residents are empowered to grow both personally and professionally as they begin their nursing careers.

Nurse Residency Program Eligibility Requirements:

To be considered for the MLK Community Healthcare Nurse Residency Program, applicants must meet the following qualifications:

• Must have a current and active California registered nurse license before the application date.
• Have obtained your RN license within the past 18 months at the time of application. 
• Have graduated from an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program.
• Hold current BLS and ACLS certifications for Healthcare Providers through the American Heart Association. Additional specialty-specific certifications, including PALS for Emergency Department positions, are required.
